The Penguins had an interesting guest today at training camp. This person is recently retired and one of the best goal scorers of his generation.

Joe Pavelski was a long time star player for current Penguins Assistant General Manager Doug Wilson in San Jose. If Pavelski has his eyes on a post playing career in a front office Wilson provides an in to the Penguins organization. Admittedly, this is putting the cart before the horse. He could just be visiting for visiting sake, but my own speculation is he would show up in San Jose or Dallas if it were something like that.

I'm intrigued. I think Pavelski is one of the more underrated players of the past 15 years or so. I think there's a wealth of knowledge to pass along to the current generation in a player development role. We'll see if it is a friendly visit or if there is more to it soon enough.
