We’ve been building to this the entire season and the moment has arrived. Sidney Crosby has locked in his 20th(!) consecutive point per game season in the NHL. He of course is in his 20th season making it a yearly occurrence from the age of 18 all the way to the present at age 37.

Sidney Crosby has many super powers as he is one of the best to ever play the sport. This record highlights his unmatched work ethic and attention to detail. Yes, he is one of the most ridiculously skilled players to do it. He’s also someone who always puts in the work whether it is on a macro or micro scale. This drive to succeed defines him and it is why he’s been able to produce season after season at a level like this. He is a true role model because of it.

Here is the clinching moment for Sidney Crosby

As I mentioned above, it is work ethic which drives something like this

For me, the most incredible part about Crosby's 20th season with a point per game is that he is currently tied for 1st in the NHL with 53 5v5 points. It is such an absurd accomplishment to be putting in that kind of work at 37 years old. Being at the top of the heap in even-strength production is the sign of an elite player and a great sign that Sid still has multiple years left to keep pumping out top end seasons, which is so cool.

Anytime we get a moment like this you know Bob Grove is going to be on it. Here are some great Sidney Crosby stats for the occasion

Legendary stuff.

Congratulations Sid, your hard work has led you to a much deserved honor and one that is going to be really difficult to top. Here’s to adding some more seasons to it.

Lastly, the other guy chasing down Wayne Gretzky did something incredibly kind last night. At the conclusion of the Capitals and Wild game Alexander Ovechkin called his team back onto the ice to give handshakes to Marc-Andre Fleury. It was very likely the last time that Ovechkin and the Capitals will be up against their long time rival. This was a fierce and healthy rivalry over the years and both guys were able to best the other over the years. I thought it was an outstanding gesture and a fitting end to this chapter.
