These are my thoughts on the Devils that could be selected by the Seattle Kraken tonight. I'll also be hosting a live podcast at 8pm ET with Nick Villano to get your rapid reaction on the selections.

1. Andreas Johnsson, F

Johnsson had a pretty disappointing first season with the Devils. Could he repeat his 2018-19 performance with the Leafs? And would Ron Francis take that risk with a $3.4M cap hit next couple years? I don’t think so.

2. Nathan Bastian, F

I love this kid because he brings size and energy. He is not afraid to do the dirty work and could be a valuable asset to the Kraken. Bastian comes at the right price and I can envision him being a fan favorite in Seattle because of his work ethic and dedication.

3. P.K. Subban, D

I think P.K. Subban can bring a lot of intangibles for the first year franchise. It would be interesting if the Kraken select both Carey Price and P.K. Subban to have a Habs Alumni reunion. But that is not going to happen and I think Subban’s big price tag alone will scare off Kraken GM Ron Francis, even if it is for one year.

4. Will Butcher, D

I think Butcher will most likely be selected by the Kraken. Will has struggled at times but he is still a decent puck moving defenseman that can regain his confidence in the Pacific Northwest. At $3.73M cap hit for the next year, it is a much more manageable salary than Subban’s.
