Big Test Against Capitals, 2022 NHL Fan Of The Year |

|
The New Jersey Devils will travel down 95 South to face their arch nemesis Washington Capitals for an afternoon matinée affair at the our nation’s capital.
The Capitals are on top of the Metropolitan division with a record of 26-7-6 record with 47 points. The Devils have won two straight and coming off an impressive overtime victory over the Edmonton Oilers to close out the 2021 calendar year.
How will the Devils penalty kill fare against the Capitals power play?
The Capitals rank 28th (15.2%) in the league on the power play and are 1-15 on the man advantage in the last three games. The Devils have improved lately on the penalty kill and now rank 14th at 80.8% success rate killing off the man advantage. They have not given up a power play goal since Dec. 16th against the Vegas Golden Knights.
During the past two games, the Devils have kept themselves out of the penalty box and for the most part, have played a well disciplined game. The Devils need to continue their fast pace and keep putting the puck on net without any hesitation while having forwards swarm the Capitals goaltender. Jack Hughes needs to keep his shoot first mindset which will help free up his line mates. Expect more physicality from Nathan Bastian and Jonas Siegenthaler and not allow the Capitals to just bully the Devils.
This is a big test. Let’s see how the Devils respond and if they can get their first regular season victory over the Capitals since February 22, 2020.

Nadia has my vote.
This story of a hockey fan going above and beyond to let a Vancouver Canucks assistant equipment manager be aware of a cancerous mole on his neck at the first ever Kraken home game is one for the ages. Restores my faith in humanity and shows why hockey fans are the best. The best community in all of sports in my opinion.
Hey NHL! Send her to the 2022 NHL Awards ceremony!
