The rumor mill has been heating up about Matthew Tkachuk and the destination of where he may end up. After Johnny Gaudreau signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets, it shocked the hockey world and what dominos would fall afterwards.
For sure, Tkachuk will be traded with teams like the St. Louis Blues, New Jersey Devils, and Ottawa Senators will have interest in the 24 year old power forward restricted free agent. Will there be a dark horse in the picture like with Gaudreau?
It is anyone's guess.
This is what we do know. Whoever is going to win this trade battle for Tkachuk will be paying a hefty price to the Flames. They got burnt with Gaudreau (no pun intended) and looking to cash in at the right price.
Could Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald make a significant move that could alter the trajectory of the New Jersey Devils franchise? The Devils have trade assets and could offer a bundle to Calgary. Could St. Louis be a destination? Or possibly play with his brother Brady in Ottawa? Or could the family bloodlines in New Jersey also play a factor?
What will it take for the Devils to trade for Tkachuk? Let's discuss.
