Same Old Devils Continues, Lose To Yotes 4-1 |

This loss against the Arizona Coyotes is inexcusable.
All the capital of trust that was built and gained since the December 20th reset by Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald is all wiped out in one night. The answers are in the locker room he said. However, the Devils fans that went to last night’s game had to endure an effortless, punchless performance against one of the league’s worst teams. It was downright embarrassing and disrespectful.
You can’t win in the NHL and coast your way to victory on any given night. The Devils had a 1-0 lead with the Coyotes only mustering one shot on goal which came late in the first period. But suddenly, the Devils stopped playing well and reverted back to their bad habits. They were sleep walking like zombies for the rest of game.
“Just gotta go sixty minutes,” Nico Hischier said. “We can’t just like sat down and sit back. We gotta (expletive) come out. Sorry. We got to come out then and just be ready to take the next shift. Win the next shift. And felt that was missing today and that’s why they got another one and another one.”
The talent is there in that locker room. But why does this keep happening? Has Lindy Ruff and the coaching staff lost control of the locker room where the message is not getting across? Where is the accountability?
“We did a lot of good stuff,” Devils coach Lindy Ruff said. “If the message wasn't there, we wouldn't have come out the way we did.”
And the Devils play the Carolina Hurricanes and the Los Angeles Kings this weekend at the Rock.
Let the message be loud and clear. Play a full sixty minutes. Or else.
