Big Game Against The Kings

If the playoffs were to start today, the Edmonton Oilers would face the LA Kings in the first round... again. Oilers fans are sick of watching the trap game of the Kings (even though Edmonton has gotten pretty good at beating it). Luckily for both sides though, the Kings are not playing the same type of game they used to and are playing a more potent offensive game while still managing to be a very strong defensive team.

Right now Edmonton and the Kings are neck and neck in the standings and a regulation win tonight would be great for both sides to help move either team up the standings. We are only 35 games into the season but the playoff picture is starting to take form. Edmonton is 7 points back of the Golden Knights for first in the division and while there are almost 50 games left in the season, that is still a tough mountain to climb.

The good news for Edmonton is their schedule is easier over the next month. While the Oilers do have some games against the Kings, Canucks, and surprisingly good Capitals, they also play against the Hawks, Kraken a couple times, Red Wings, Sabres, and Ducks - none of which are playoff calibre teams at this stage. The Oilers have a great opportunity to notch some more points in the standings and try and close the gap on the Golden Knights.

Quick note, I will be on vacation for the next couple weeks and the blogs may not be as regular during this time but I will still do my best to cover any major news or events surrounding this team.

Thanks for reading!
