It's Connor McDavid's World. We Just Get To Live In It |

Wow.
Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to be a blogger for another team.
If I was a Flames blogger I would have to talk about a mediocre team that never really sucks but is never overly exciting.
If I was a Leafs blogger I would be writing non-stop because everything that happens to any team ever means it effects the Leafs and therefore must be written about.
If I was a Kraken blogger... I don't even want to think about that....
Instead I have the privilege to be an Oilers blogger, write to the best fans in the NHL and talk about the best player in the game.
Last night the Oilers came back from a 4-1 deficit, to end up winning 6-5 in OT. That alone would be exciting enough but Connor McDavid decided to kick things up a notch with a goal that will be shown on highlight reels for weeks to come and could very well be the goal of the year.
If you somehow haven't seen the goal yet, well here it is:
There have been exciting games over the past five years in Edmonton but nothing matched the electricity and the roar in Rogers Place last night. This Oilers team which is now 9-1-0 to start the season feels different than any Oilers team I have witnessed in my life so far. The closest example to this team would be the 06 Cup run team. I'm not saying this team will go the the Cup Finals but they certainly have the ability and they have the heart.
Even the post game interviews feel different. Every single player that gets up there from McDavid, to Draisaitl, to Puljujarvi, to Hyman are joking around and having fun. This group has come together surprisingly fast and they're to most likable team that has hit the ice since the 80's.
Now I could go on to talk about how Koskinen struggled in the game or that Keith had a bad game or what the EV scoring chances were from period to period but I just don't feel like doing any of that today. McDavid scored a highlight reel goal and the Oilers won. Sometimes we don't need to pick apart all the little details and instead simply take a step back and enjoy the game.
As the title says, it's Connor McDavid's world, and I'm ecstatic that I get to write about it.
