UPDATE
An update for all. The Cave family and the Oilers have started the Colby Cave Memorial Fund with all proceeds going to community programs with an emphasis on mental health initiatives and providing access to sports for underprivileged children.
With the Cave family being covered financially during this hard time, I am planning on taking all the proceeds that were donated to the GoFundMe I started and in turn donate them to this cause instead.
Tomorrow I will get back to posting my Player Report Cards, but wanted to take a few minutes of your time to talk a bit more about Colby Cave and his tragic passing.
Colby, a 25 year old man died on April 11th due to a clot that was putting pressure on his brain. He leaves behind his wife Emily, family, friends, and a hockey community that is stunned that a man in his prime could be taken so suddenly.
I myself am 28 years old. I suppose I am in my prime myself but my love of beer, nachos with extra cheese and beef, and sitting in my favourite chair watching sports may say otherwise. I do try and live a healthy lifestyle; I'm an avid rock climber, jogger, and cyclist but the recent COVID 19 quarantines have certainly put a damper on these activities.
It's so easy with these times to feel helpless and fall into habits of isolation. Hearing the news of Colby's passing though made me want to try and find a way to make a difference, any small gesture to try and help out a family who not only have lost a loved one, but may also feel separated from their support systems.
This is why I started a GoFundMe, to provide some relief for the Cave family during this impossibly difficult time. The campaign started on Saturday, and we have already raised over $1600. This money could go towards funeral costs, memorials, or whatever else can provide some relief.
From the other bloggers on this site, to the readers, I am asking for us all to come together and try and make a difference in the lives of a family that is been devastated by the passing of Colby Cave.

Understandably we live in difficult times and money is tight for many. If you are unable to donate, I ask that you still share this blog or the direct link to the GoFundMe, on your own social media platforms. Also follow me

Thank you all and a Happy Easter to you all.
