Two Down, 14 To Go: Avalanche Overcome Connor Ingram & Preds Pushback |

Sometimes it's easy to dismiss a team like the Nashville Predators following the events of game one. Playoff hockey is never easy and certainly, the Preds aren't ready to just roll over and die.
Colorado and Nashville went toe-to-toe and punch-for-punch in game two of this best of seven series. The Preds gave it everything they had physically and were kept afloat by the heroics of rookie goaltender Connor Ingram.
Ingram made 49 saves, including several spectacular ones but his team couldn't muster up enough offense to really threaten Colorado. Ingram was making his first career playoff start and it had to rank among the best performance not only in Preds franchise history but in league history. He was that good.
The 'Avs ultimately won in overtime by a 2-1 final, but don't let the score fool you. The Avalanche controlled most - if not all of the play in this game.
Colorado finished the game with a 51-26 shot advantage. Cale Makar and Nathan Mackinnon combined for 20 shots on their own.
Both Makar and Mackinnon were superb in this game. Makar scored the overtime winner, while Playoff Nate scored in regulation. These two guys have been unreal out of the gate and as long as they are still healthy they will continue to drive this team's success.
The game was physical from puck drop. You could tell the Preds had a game plan and they stuck to it. However the more they pushed the harder Colorado pushed back. The clubs combined for 110 hits. Captain Gabriel Landeskog led the 'Avs with 10 booming bruising bangers of his own.
Darcy Kuemper was his usual solid self making 25 saves on 26 shots for the win. All he does is win-win, no matter what-what.
In between periods on the TNT broadcast, "The Great One" Wayne Gretzky mentioned that this is the type of game that Colorado had to win if they are going to win the Stanley Cup. Mission accomplished.
14 wins to go.
Series Now Shifts to Nashville for Games 3 and 4.
