Pens and Sullivan Part Ways.. Is he the answer for the flyers? |

It was announced today that the Penguins and Mike Sullivan have parted ways…. of course the general feeling is that he was released by the team. I’m told he is already getting call after call from teams who want to talk to him about their head coach job. I haven’t gotten any confirmation, but it’s relatively certain that the Flyers are one of those teams.
Does Mike Sullivan jump to the top of your list to be the next Flyers coach?
For me, he doesn’t.
This is nothing against Sullivan. Mike has bviously been an incredibly successful coach and has put in his time. He is highly respected by Sidney Crosby and I know the players didn’t want him to leave.
But none of that means he’s right for a young team like the Flyers in a rebuild… he’s been around a long time, and was mentored by Torts in to start his career, I feel watching him the last few years that as the team wasn’t as good he didn’t appear to have the answers. I saw more of the old-school coaching than I think works in the NHL right now.
Let’s talk about this in the comments
