Starting next season, NHL teams will be wearing jerseys created by Adidas rather than Reebok.

A dozen of those teams will have their jerseys altered by the new makers and the Calgary Flames are one of them, according to a report from SportsLogos.

The teams we were told to expect some changes to are the Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres, Calgary Flames, Colorado Avalanche, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Edmonton Oilers, Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators, New Jersey Devils, and the Ottawa Senators.

Let’s make this clear right away, these changes could be very minor, even as minor as just an already existing alternate uniform being “promoted” to a full-time home uniform (as we know is the case Edmonton). We’re expecting almost all of these to be no more than just a few tweaks to their design. Unlike the switch to Reebok for the 2007-08 season, none of these uniform changes will be accompanied by a new primary team logo.

I believe the rule is just a one-off while teams make the switch to Adidas but next season teams are not allowed to wear alternate jerseys. Stadium Series games aside, you get two jerseys -- that's it.

With that in mind, it's no surprise some teams will be promoting alternate jerseys, likely with some minor tweaks, into the full-time rotation.

I hope the Calgary Flames fall into that group as their retro alternates are extremely sharp and, quite frankly, I think they're a lot better than the current jerseys the team wears on a routine basis.

Those jerseys are perfect. If the Flames aren't among the teams 'promoting' alternates into the picture full-time, that means we won't see these at all next season.

I don't want to go a year without seeing those jerseys so hopefully the Flames go with them full-time -- at least until third/alternate jerseys are permitted again in 2018-19.
