Andersson Handed Four Game Suspension for Hit On Patrik Laine |

Per the NHL Department of Player Safety, Flames defenceman
Rasmus Andersson has been suspended for four games for charging Patrik Laine of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the dying seconds of Friday night faceoff between the two teams.
The decision can be appealed but has an unlikely chance of being reduced. The final game of the suspension keeps him out until after the Heritage Classic on October 29 against the Edmonton Oilers. Four games is a longer suspension than anything handed out in 2022-2023.
The Flames can slot in
Jordan Oesterle but will need to place Kevin Rooney on LTIR to clear enough cap space if they want to call another player up.
On that note, Calgary blue chip defenceman prospect
Jérémie Poirier had to be helped off of the ice after a collision with Canucks forward prospect
Vasili Podkolzin. He did not return.
Tough news given that Poirier has been playing well above AHL standard quality. He has a goal and six assists in three games this season. A four-game tryout might have made it impossible to keep the 21 year old off of the roster.
Game day against the Red Wings tomorrow.
