Let’s start with some lighter news.
An Oilers jersey was thrown on the ice last night. Some of these fresher Oilers fans don’t grasp what it took for fans of the early, mid and late 2010’s to get to that point. Six losses is nothing compared to the runs they went on. They’re still in a playoff spot.
One former member of the Oilers faithful should give their head a shake. You throw a jersey on the ice; you should never wear that team’s jersey ever again.
Postponement
The NHL has just officially announced the postponement of the Flames schedule until at least the 18th. This includes the Columbus Blue Jackets game.
Seventeen employees of the Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation have been added to COVID-19 protocol today including:
Seven players: Rasmus Andersson, Johnny Gaudreau, Byron Froese, Erik Gudbranson, Trevor Lewis, Jacob Markstrom, and Tyler Pitlick.
Three Coaches: Darryl Sutter, Kirk Muller, and Ryan Huska.
Seven support staff.
This is getting close to being the entire team. Thoughts out to those tested positive. Thankfully they’ve all had their shots, so the impact of the virus will be drastically mitigated.
As of now just Tkachuk, Backlund, Coleman, Dube, Stone, Kylington, and Vladar remain. Enough for some low tempo beer league hockey. Elliotte Friedman stated yesterday that a group of physicians were set to meet to discuss a plan moving forward for the NHL given the amount of cases popping up on multiple teams.
