|
Tonight the regular season finally kicks off for the Golden Knights. They have the privilege of playing against the Seattle Kraken in their first ever regular season game. Led by their newly minted captain, Mark Giordano, they will be looking to set a tempo for the franchise. Let’s take a look at the projected lines courtesy of Jesse Granger @JesseGranger_.
Pacioretty—Stephenson—Stone
Marchessault—Karlsson—Smith
Krebs—Patrick—Dadonov
Dorofeyev—Kolesar—Coghlan
Martinez—Pietrangelo
McNabb—Theodore
Hague—Whitecloud
Lehner
Brossoit
A new forechecking system
Players on the Knights have been mentioning that DeBoer has been practicing a new forechecking system with the team. Keep an eye on how the Knights attack the puck in Seattle’s end tonight.
Krebs finds a line
Peyton Krebs has been inconsistent this preseason. He has shown the ability to take over the offence such as his four point game against the Avalance, but he has also shown he can get caught behind the play in several other games. Tonight he starts with Patrick and Dadonov and will be expected to keep up with the two.
Starting the season with injuries
Given the Golden Knights’ ability to go deep in the playoffs, injury attrition will play a larger and larger role in their ability to maintain their quality of play. While it’s good news that Shea Theodore is back in the lineup, injuries to himself, McNabb, and Nicolas Roy are bad omens for what will happen down the line. Especially with McCrimmon keeping the Knights up against the cap. Last year the Knights couldn’t call up players due to cap restraint. This was polarized with a game in April where the Knights only dressed 15 players.
Seattle handcuffed by covid
McCann, Oleksiak, Donskoi, and Jarnkrok will miss tonight’s game due to being in Covid protocol. That is a huge impact on the starting roster.
Seattle Lines:
Schwartz-Wennberg-Eberle
Johansson-Geekie-Tanev
Donate-Sheahan-Appleton
Bastian-True-Lind
Soucy-Larsson
Fleury-Giordano
Dunn-Lauzon
Grubauer

Game time is 8pm.
Have a great day,
