Mark Stone was injured by a puck to the ear in the first period last night and was held out for precautionary reasons. Theodore wasn’t on the bench for the third period and McNabb didn’t play in the final 13 minutes. DeBoer will provide an update on Theodore and McNabb in the next day or so.

To the Golden Knights fans out there, just take a moment and process that. It’s not ideal, but until DeBoer gives a timeline for either player — I wouldn’t panic.

Now that the really bad news is out of the way. Here’s a few thoughts on the 4-2 loss to the Sharks last night:

Mistakes by the young guys
Brett Howden blew his coverage on the first goal against. A no-look pass by Krebs led to clean one timer out front and put Vegas down by two. A Lukas Cormier failed pass to Dadonov led to the third goal against — Zach Whitecloud wasn’t covering the low slot and the Sharks finished the play with a goal. Mistakes are to be expected with younger players, but stuff like front of net coverage and no look passes to the middle in the defensive zone are habits you normally iron out at a younger age.

Jack Dugan and Paul Cotter looked great
In the second period Dugan and Cotter collaborated on a beautiful one-timer goal off the rush. Dugan the passer and Cotter getting the goal. The two were buzzing following the goal making a few nice dekes

Dadonov looked worth his contract
Dadonov used his exceptional speed to create space. He got a few one-timers from the slot and won most of his puck races. His line as a whole (Janmark-Patrick-Dadonov) was buzzing throughout the game and they’ll be a key to the Knights taking a step forward as a team.

Thompson stepped up exceptionally well
The Golden Knights allowed countless 1-on-0 opportunities. Thompson kept them in the game after goal three. Defensive coverage will be a point of emphasis for DeBoer.

Earlier today Marcus Kallionkieli, Jakub Brabenec, Jakub Demek, Kaleb Pearson, Daniil Chayka, Artur Cholach, Jesper Vikman and Lukas Cormier have been reassigned from the Vegas Golden Knights training camp and have rejoined their junior teams.

No practice today. The Golden Knights host the Colorado Avalanche tomorrow at 8pm mst.

Have a great day,
