The NHL dropped the latest edition of the Reverse Retro Jersey series and well, Chicago’s final product looked like it was made by the kid who forgot to do his homework and tried getting it done as the teacher was coming around to collect it. The Indian head has been reduced to a single shoulder patch, as if the league is almost saying until you change the logo you will not have a jersey worth getting excited about. Personally, I wish they would work in the colors of the Chicago Flag, that sky blue and red is an awesome color combo that already proved to look good when they wore them in warm ups a few years back.

For me, Florida won the title of best Reverse Retro, embracing the Southern Florida vines with the color scheme and making the palm tree/hockey stick secondary logo the main crest. An absolute beauty.

Tonight kicks off the start of a lot of hockey for the Hawks as they will have 9 games over the next 15 games with 7 of those being played at the United Center. This span of games will give us a much better idea of what type of hockey we are going to see this team play long term after a very good start to the season.

Things get kicked off against the once archrival Detroit Red Wings. Detroit is coming to town with a 2-0-1 record while putting up 12 goals for and allowing 7 against. They will be a little short-handed as Tyler Bertuzzi is out for 4-6 weeks with an upper body injury and Jakub Vrana has entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program. Best wishes to him as he deals with whatever he might be battling with right now.

The unconfirmed starter for the Wings looks to be Ville Husso, who currently has a 1-0-1 record, 2.50 GAA, and .923 SV% It will also be interesting to see how Kubalik plays in his first game against his former team.

From the Hawks standpoint I would expect to see the same line up as we saw against the Sharks. There have been some rumblings that McCabe is almost ready to make his return to the lineup, so that would be one player to keep an eye on. As for goaltending, I would be shocked if Mrazek doesn’t get the call.

It is going to be interesting to see which version of the Hawks are going to show up tonight and if they can build on the first win of the season or if the 6 day layoff going to catch up with them and start this long haul of games flat. We will find out tonight when the puck drops at 7:30pm central.
