A quick day off before another game tomorrow in the slug before the Christmas break. The Columbus Blue Jackets dropped the road game to Carolina, but upset the Boston Bruins in the home building.

CBJ PG 22 @ Carolina - Ear Shot

A puck to the ear did not bother Andrei Svechinkov, as he buried the game winner over the Columbus Blue Jackets, with the Carolina Hurricanes winning 3-2.

All five goals were scored in the third period.

Kirill Marchenko opened the scoring of the game with his sixth of the season from Johnny Gaudreau.

Gaudreau extends the Columbus lead with his third of the year unassisted.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi got his team on the board with his seventh of the season from Teuvo Teravainen and Martin Necas.

Brady Skeji evened the game with his third of the year from Svechinkov and Seth Jarvis.

Svech got the ear shot off for his first of the season from Sebastian Aho and Jarvis.

Pytor Kochetkov had 21 saves on 23 shots for a 0.913.

Sebastian Aho was my player to watch having an assist and a +2 in 20:04TOI.

Patrik Laine was my player to watch and was scoreless with a -1 and 15:06TOI.

Elvis Merzlikins had 40 saves on 43 shots faced for a 0.930 save percentage.

CBJ PG 23 @ Boston - Russian Four

The Columbus Blue Jackets stun the hockey world by making NHL history with a 5-2 win over the Boston Bruins.

Period I

Dmitry Vokornov opened the game with his fourth of his career from Yegor Chinakov.

Period II

Ivan Provorov extended the lead with his second as a Blue Jacket from David Jiricek and Cole Sillinger.

Chinakov bursted through the scene on the breakaway on the eventual winner for his second of the year.

Period III

Kirill Marchenko recorded the powerplay goal for the seventh on the season from Boone Jenner and Patrik Laine.

Matthew Poitras ended the shutout hopes for the Blue Jackets by the fifth of his season from Charlie McAvoy and Danton Heinen.

Justin Danforth replied to get Columbus back on the board with his sixth of the season with the assists by Sean Kuraly and Boone Jenner via the empty net.

John Beecher got a late Bruins goal for his fourth of the season from Kevin Shattenkirk and Trent Frederic.

Jeremy Swayman allowed 2 goals on 19 shots for a 0.895 save percentage. Linus Ullmark allowed 2 goals on 20 shots for a 0.900 save percentage.

David Pasternak was a -2 with 2 shots on goal in 18:27TOI.

Alexandre Texier was pointless with one shot on goal with a -1 rating in 10:15 TOI.

Spencer Martin had 31 saves on 33 shots faced for a 0.939 save percentage.

This was the first time in NHL history that the any team in the league had four different Russians score a goal. Vokornov, Provorov, Chinakov, and Marchenko were the four Russians.
