Report - @ Preds G21 could be postponed

This is due to a water pipe main break at the event level inside the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville Tennessee.

Hoping all are safe!

Now, to the pregame notes: G20 v NYI

This is the second game of 4 between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the New York Islanders. Reference game 14 for the game notes in the archives.

The Islanders are coming off a recent shutout victory over the Oilers, and are in a back to back with travel. Tonight is Columbus and then back home against the Flyers. Islanders’ defense is their strength, as they have the third best penalty kill in the league. Won’t be easy to score on the power play for the home squad.

Columbus is coming off a recent loss to the Montreal Canadiens.

CBJ P19 — Silent 40

After 40 minutes of silence, the Montreal Canadiens broke through with a 3-1 victory of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Mathieu Oliver opened the scoring with his second of Blue Jackets’ career. Oliver’s goal was unassisted.

Arber Xhekaj’s tiebreaker was assisted by Jake Evans and Juraj Slafkovsky.

David Savard got the game winner for his first of the season. Kirby Dach and Cole Caufield had the helpers.

Sean Monahan’s fifth of the season was an unassisted empty netter.

Nick Suzuki was there Montreal player to watch being pointless in 18:09TOI.

Samuel Montembault had 30 saves on 31 shots for a 0.968 save percentage.

Sean Kuraly was the Columbus player to watch, being pointless with 15:54TOI and was a +1.

Joonas Korpisalo had 26 saves on 28 shots for a 0.929 save percentage.

CBJ THREE STARS OF THE GAME

1. Mathieu Olivier — goal (2), +1, 2PIM, 5SOG

2. Joonas Korpsialo — L, 92.9 SV%, 26 saves

3. Sean Kuraly — +1, HIT, BLK, 31.6 FO%, 15:54TOI

Game 14 was a nail biter in their first meeting of the season, and tonight’s will be different given the injury depleted Blue Jackets’ roster.

They have their third matchup before the new calendar year, and their final contest is in March just before the conclusion of the regular season.

For the Columbus lineup, Carson Meyer has been recalled to round up the 23 man roster before their travel to Nashville tomorrow. Emil Bemstrom was sent down, and Yegor Chainkov returns after missing the last game against Montreal. Joonas Korpisalo gets the go.

This also will conclude the longest home stand for the Union Blue, at 6 consecutive home games.

The Blue Jackets’ last win against the Islanders was an overtime winner in October 21, 2021, with the last regulation win being on December 23, 2019.
