CBJ G3 v Detroit Red Wings — M |
|
|
|
The Columbus Blue Jackets return to the ice after their first win of the season to meet the Detroit Red Wings. Puckdrop is at 7pm from BallySports Ohio and Detroit.
The Yzerplan seems to be in limbo after the slow development of their top prospects the past several drafts amidst the strengthening Atlantic Division. Detroit has made some strong depth moves this summer with the plethora of cap space accumulated.
IN
Alex DeBrincat was acquired from the Ottawa Seantors in a controversial multiplayer/pick trade.
Klim Kostin was acquired in a cap dump deal from the Edmonton Oilers.
JT Compher signed a long term five year deal.
Jeff Petry was obtained from the Montreal Canadiens before the school year began.
Short term deals were signed by forwards Christian Fischer and Daniel Sprong; defenders Justin Holl and Shayne Gostisbehere; and goalies James Reimer and Alex Lyon.
Two-way deals were handed out to forwards Zach-Aston Reese, Nolan Stevens and Tim Gettinger; defenseman Brogan Rafferty; and goalie Magnus Hellberg.
OUT
Kailer Yamamoto was bought out in the the Kostin package and signed with Seattle.
Dominik Kubalik and a first rounder were part of the DeBrincat package to Ottawa.
Gustav Lindstrom went to Montreal in the Petry package.
Ohio native Alex Nedjelkovic went to Pittsburgh.
Jordan Oesterle moved to Calgary.
Robert Hagg signed with Anaheim.
Filip Zadina agreed to mutual termination and signed with San Jose.
Pius Suter signed late with Vancouver.
From my prediction
7. Detroit Red Wings - the kids are not ready yet. The depth pieces are good but not sure if it is 2025 for them. Alex DeBricant and Jeff Petry return home. JT Compher reunites with his Michigan roots. The Yzerplan is stuck in limbo.
So far the new guys are producing and that seems to be it on the stat sheet. It will be interesting to see how the home cooking and reunions do for the former Michigan boys.
Copp, Larkin, Compher, and Werenski were all on the 2014-15 Michigan NCAAH roster.
Kent Johnson and Adam Fantilli are also ex-Michigan players on the main roster.
Elvis is a game time decision with illness. He may serve as backup. (Stomach illness)
Sounding like more forward swaps are ahead go get reps in for the Blue Jackets’ depth. Robinson and Olivier are expected to sit for Roslovic and Bemmer. The veteran and young defenders are also swapping to get more reps.
Very confused as to how quickly Peeke has fallen out of favor and may be the odd man out to be sat despite the Werenski injury. Was exposed a lot, sure, but his size would be coveted and valued on playoff teams, plus is on the first year of a new contract extension.
