Going from one wagon to another, the Columbus Blue Jackets prepare to face a potential repetition of last night’s embarrassment against the New York Rangers.
Columbus comes into tonight after being blanked, spanked, and clanked by the Calgary Flames with the final score being 6-0. The Flames rocked their world with 62 shots registered in 60 minutes of play, highest shot total in 40 years. Mickael Backlund, Andrew Mangiapane, Matthew Tkachuk (2) Elias Lindholm, and Eric Gudbransson were able to add to their goal totals. Jacob Markstrom added his 6th shutout in his 29 games played. One in five games for him is a shutout. Every single thing has been clicking for the red and orange, makes you wonder what else is heating up in Calgary.
The New York Rangers arrive rested and ready to get through their final meeting of the season with the Blue Jackets, on the backs of their three All Stars— Chris Kreider, Adam Fox, and Mika Zibanejad (yes, I know he is not attending due to personal reasons, still deserves the recognition). With days off of rest, I’d expect the Rangers to stomp Columbus.
