The Columbus Blue Jackets conclude their back-to-back with an evening game at Madison Square Garden against the New York Rangers.
The Rangers are a young competitive team that was in the Eastern Conference Finals, falling short to the Tampa Bay Lightning in 6 games.
New York lost all of their deadline acquisitions - Tyler Motte, Andrew Copp, Frank Vatrano, and Justin Braun. Ryan Strome also walked to free agency alongside Kevin Rooney; Keith Kinkaid; and Greg McKegg. Goalie Alex Georgiev was traded to Colorado for picks; meanwhile, defenseman Patrick Nemeth was traded with picks to Arizona. Surprisingly, Niks Lundkvist was moved to Dallas for a first round pick. Defender Jared Tinordi was claimed off waivers by Chicago.
The Blueshirts added forwards Vincent Trocheck, Turner Elson, and Ryan Carpenter; defenseman Andy Welinski; and goaltenders Jaroslav Halak and Louis Domingue.
Vitaly Kratsov and Sammy Blias are both dealing with upper body injuries.
