The Columbus Blue Jackets had the worst week of the season, with one of the worst games in franchise history. In 21-22, they suffered a 9-2 loss to the Florida Panthers, and last week lost 9-4 to Buffalo.

Other 9 goal games include:

2011-12: 9-2 v Philadelphia
2009-2010: 9-1 v Detroit

The worst loss was 10-2 v San Jose in 2002, and only time they’ve ever allowed a double-digit number in a regular season game.

This past week, they defeated the Calgary Flames, but lost to Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo consecutively.

This upcoming week, they are on a three game road trip with Florida and Massachusetts on the tab.

First, their second meeting of the season with the Florida Panthers. Previously, there was a 5-3 win with goalie Daniil Tarasov being the highlight.

Midweek, Tampa and Columbus collide for their second tilt of the season. Their first meeting was a 5-2 Bolts victory during the Jackets’ home opener.

The only weekend tilt is with Boston for their second meeting of the season, where the league’s best time shut them out 4-0.

Columbus is dealing with the injury bug, as Joonas Korpisalo has become the newest victim after their contest with the Calgary Flames. Elvis Merzlikins had to play the final 40 minutes of gameplay.

While Zach Werenski recovers, he has generously donated $50K. His status alongside Jake Bean and Justin Danforth’s statuses remain out for the season. Going with the out for the season theme, Jakub Voracek remains our long term, potentially into next season with his post concussion syndrome.

Adam Boqvist is getting close. We are in week 7 of a 6-8 week injury regarding a broken foot. He has played 4 games and is pointless thus far into his second season with Columbus.

Nick Blankenburg has been out exactly one month, where he last scored a goal on a broken ankle. Still another 2-4 weeks out for the former Michigan captain.

CBJ P27 — Jack is ELITE

The Columbus Blue Jackets survive the Los Angeles Kings with a 6-5 overtime effort.

Kirill Marchenko opened the scoring with his first career NHL goal and first as a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Big congratulations to the Russian prospect! Kent Johnson got the lone assist as the dish man, confusing the LA defense for Marchenko to effortlessly shoot the puck.

Bonne Jenner’s deflected power play goal gets him to be the first Columbus Blue Jackets’ player with 10 goals on the season. Jack Roslovic and Johnny Gaudreau got the helpers from sweet passing for the shot that Jenner tipped.

Anze Kopitar cut the lead in half with the first Kings’ goal, good for his 9th of the year. Linemates Arthur Kaliyev and Kevin Fiala had the helpers.

Blake Lizotte evens the game for the first time since 0-0. His 6th was assisted by Carl Grundstrom and Alex Iafallo.

Patrik Laine got the go ahead goal with his 8th of the season; Jack Roslovic and Erik Gudbranson got the helpers.

Jaret Anderson-Dolan evens the game for the third time in the game with his second of the season; Sean Durzi had the lone assist.

Jack Roslovic recovered the Columbus lead with a short handed goal for second of the campaign; Eric Robinson and Vladislav Gavrikov had the helpers.

Roslovic then got a power play goal for his third of the year; Johnny Gaudreau and Laine had the helpers. This concluded the Columbus regulation goals.

Kopitar got his second of the game for his 10th this year; Sean Walker had the lone helper.

Adrian Kempe registered the final regulation goal and LA Kings goal for his 10th of the season.

Johnny Gaudreau tallied the winner just 40 seconds into overtime for his 10th of the season; Laine and Gavrikov had the helpers.

Kevin Fiala was my LA Kings player to watch, and he had just one assist in 18:36TOI.

Jonathan Quick was the goalie, where he allowed 6 goals on 26 shots for a 0.769 save percentage.

Patrik Laine was my CBJ player to watch, and he had a goal and 2 assists in 19:29TOI.

Elvis Merzlikins allowed 5 goals on 38 shots for a 0.868 save percentage.
