Happy Thanksgiving Hockey World! May you and your loved ones have the most blessed and warm holidays ahead with good health and prosperity.

Onto hockey and last night’s recap before tomorrow against the Canucks.

Columbus got it done last night in the return of forwards Pierre-Luc Dubois and Riley Nash, with the club’s first shutout of the season. The final score between Columbus and Winnipeg was 3-0.

In the first period, Gregory Hoffman opened the scoring with his second career goal. Max Domi for the lone assist on the play.

The final two goals came in the third period. Defenseman Zach Werenski extended his point streak to nine games with his fifth goal of the season. The power play goal was aided by Jakub Voracek and Adam Boqvist. Defenseman Andrew Peeke added the empty net goal for his first goal of the season. The apples came from Vladislav Gavrikov and Alexandre Texier.

Connor Hellebuyck was Winnipeg’s best player, even though the starting goalie allowed 2 goals on 31 shots faced for a 0.935 save percentage. My player to watch on Winnipeg was PLD, as the returning center played against the team that drafted him for the first time in his career. Dubois finished with a minus -2 with 2 shots on net and a 38.5 Faceoff percentage in 15:48 time on ice.

Elvis Merzlikins stopped all 36 shots faced for his first shutout of the season. It’s an uplifting moment for the team going into the holiday break. Jack Roslovic was my player to watch, and was scoreless with a 30% success rate in the faceoff dot with 11:36 time on ice.

CBJ Three Stars Of The Game

1. Elvis Merzlikins— 1st Shutout; 36 saves
2. Zach Werenski— PPG (5)
3. Gregory Hoffman— GWG (2)
