The Florida Panthers claw back in an overtime victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets by the final score of 5-4.

Period I

The Florida Panthers opened the scoring with three quick goals in the first 6:09, chasing Elvis out of the crease.

Ryan Lomberg opened the goal scoring for the home team for his first of the year. Steve Lorentz earned his first assist as a Panther. Josh Mahura had the secondary assist.

Gustav Forsling had his second of the year from Sam Reinhart and Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

Alex Barkov extended his team’s lead to three with his third of the year. Reinhart and Nikko Mikkola had the apples.

The Columbus comeback began late in the first with two goals in 3:10.

Sean Kuraly opened the road scoring with his third of the season from Erik Gubdranson and Justin Danforth.

Captain Boone Jenner brought the lead to within one with his team leading sixth goal of the season. Jack Roslovic and Gudbranson had the helpers.

Period II

Kirill Marchenko tied the game with a powerplay goal for his second of the season. Ivan Provorov continues being the point leader with his ninth assist. Alexandre Texier got the secondary assist for his first point back in Columbus after the year off in France with his family.

Period III

Alexandre Texier got the Columbus go ahead and final goal for the road team with it being his first goal in Columbus in over a calendar year. Andrew Peeke, the Florida native, had his first assist on the season. Cole Sillinger had the final apple for the Jackets.

Nick Cousins tied the game at 4 with 57 seconds left in regulation for his second of the season unassisted.

Overtime

Carter Verhaehge recorded the overtime winner 86 seconds in for his fourth of the year from Anton Lundell and Matthew Tkachuk.


Sergei Bobrovsky allowed 4 goals on 23 shots for a 0.846 save percentage.

Alex Barkov had a goal and 5 shots on net with a +2 rating.

Yegor Chinakov in his season debut was pointless with a -1, and a shot block and hit in 11:53TOI.

Elvis Merzlikins allowed 3 goals on 10 shots. Spencer Martin allowed 2 on 36. Anoint him the starter.
