CBJ PG20 - Thanksgiving Miracle

We got what we were hoping for fans! The game to end the streak. On Thanksgiving Eve nonetheless. High emotions and higher results. The Columbus Blue Jackets snap the nine game losing streak with a dominating 7-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks for the first win since November 2nd in the Bedard v Fantilli game.

Period I

The All time games played leader opened the scoring along with his ceremony for his team leading ninth of the year. Captain Boone Jenner’s goal was assisted by Zach Werenski and Adam Boqvist. Boqvist’s assist was his his first point of the season.

Erik Gudbranson slapped a rebound home from Kirill Marchenko for his second of the season.

Jenner expanded the lead with his second of the night and 10th of the season. Johnny Gaudreau and Werenski got the assists.

The scoring was closed with Connor Bedard recording his goal against Columbus and 10th of his Calder season. Phillipp Kurashev and Isak Phillips had the assists.

Period II

Columbus scored four answered goals this period to conclude their night.

Cole Sillinger would get credit for the eventual game winning goal and it would be his first of the season. Werenski got the primary. Yegor Chinakov got his first point of the season.

Dmitri Vokornov got his third of his rookie year from Sillinger and Werenski.

Marchenko got on the board for his fifth of the campaign from Boqvist and Ivan Provorov.

The roommates closed out the home team scoring. After a great give and go set up to Adam Fantilli, the returning Patrik Laine responded to his healthy scratch with his third of the season.

Period III

Jason Dickinson recorded an unassisted goal early in the third period for his third of the season.

Reese Johnson eanred his second of the year from Mackenzie Entwistle.

Bedard had one goal on one shot in 21:20 time on ice with a -1 on the evening. This was his 10th of the year. He now joins a list of players tied for fewest games to 10 goals at 17. The only two players lower are Steve Yzerman and Patrik Laine.

Petr Mrazek allowed 5 goals on 18 shots for a 0.722 save percentage. Arvid Soderblom allowed 2 goals on 8 shots for a 0.750 save percentage.

Adam Fantilli had an assist on Laine’s goal for sixth assist of the season. Fantilli had 3 shots on goal in 15:15 of ice time and was a 33% in the center ice dot.

Elvis Merzlikins had 3 goals allowed on 36 shots faced for a 0.917 save percentage.

3. Cole Sillinger — first goal of the season, assist
