The Columbus Blue Jackets stole this game from the Philadelphia Flyers in the shootout, by the final score of 3-2.
It was a very quiet game shadowed by the NHL All Star announcements including Flyers forward Travis Konecny and Blue Jackets captain Boone Jenner as two of the 32. Others can be voted on now on the NHL website.
Period I
Travis Konecny opened the scoring with his 19th goal of the season late in the first. A great redirection pass from Joel Farabee from the high slot redirected off the Flyers’ leading goal scorer’s stick and behind the blue line. Sean Couturier had the secondary assist.
Period II
No goal scoring. Some light shoving and minor penalties. Tarasov stops all. Samuel Ersson has yet to allow a goal.
Period III
Konecny with the highlight reel backhand toe drag extends the home team lead with his 20th this year. Farabee and Couturier got the assists for the Flyers, again.
Less than a minute later, Damon Severson began the comeback off a one time slap shot between the circles for his first goal back since the injury. His fifth of the season was assisted by Adam Fantilli and Jake Christiansen.
Jake Bean deflects a Jack Roslovic snaper behind Ersson to even the game at two a piece. Bean’s third of the season was also assisted by Erik Gudbranson from the breakout of the defensive zone.
Overtime
Philadelphia came close on a few chances. Tarasov holding strong.

Sean Couturier shot stopped by Tarasov.
Johnny Gaudreau deked Ersson for a goal.
Bobby Brink missed.
Kent Johnson went wide.
Tyson Forrester saves by Tarasov.
