The Columbus Blue Jackets have made two prospect signings over the last week that I am looking to share details and thoughts further upon in this blog post today instead of watching.
D Charlie Elick
The 2024 36th overall selection signed his entry level contract. He had 2 goals and 13 assists for 15 points in 66 games split between Brandon and Tri-City in the WHL.
D Caleb MacDonald
The undrafted defender has 3 goals and 7 assists in 31 games with the University of North Dakota this season. He will stay teammates with defender Andrew Strathmann, who Columbus drafted in 2023.
G Evan Gardner
The 2024 second round draft selection, 60th overall, is 23-13-5 with a 2.82GAA and 0.911 save percentage with the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL this season.
CSSHL teammates with Clarke Caswell (SEA); Ryder Ritchie (MIN); Gavin McKenna (2026); and Tij Ignila (UHC).
WHL teammates with Yegor Sidorov (ANA), Tanner Molendyk (NSH); Fraser Mitten (BOS); and Alexander Suzdalev (WSH).
Gardner and Hunter Laing (CGY) were teammates at both the CSSHL and WHL.
F Jack Williams
The Northeastern captain and leading scorer has signed his entry level contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The undrafted 23 year old forward had 16 goals and 25 assists for 41 points in 37 games this season
The forward and Hunter McKown at the USNTDP program. Williams was also teammates in the program with Thomas Bordeleau (SJS), Matty Beniers (SEA), Brock Faber (MIN), Tyler Kleven (OTT), and Jake Sanderson (OTT).
At Northeastern University, he was teammates with Jack Hughes (LAK), pending free agent on August 15; and goalie Devon Levi (BUF).
