This is not the Wendy’s meal deal but the CBJ prospect special. All four Columbus prospects have advanced to the semifinals after winning their respective contests last evening.

Starting with the least shocking of the two, Team Canada. The Canadian team dominated the Swiss by the final score of 6-3.

Kent Johnson got the last primary assist on the last goal of the game. An empty netter from Stars’ prospect Logan Stankoven, his second of the game.

Johnson was a +2 with 5 shots on goal in the game.

In the shocking upset of the tournament, Czechia stunned the undefeated United States with a 4-2 victory.

David Jiricek had a secondary assist on Czechia’s second goal of the game, which Petr Hauser’s first goal of the tournament.

Stanislav Svozil had 24 penalty minutes, 2 shots on goal, and was a +1 against the Americans. Svozil got a major and a game misconduct in the third period for kneeing, plus a minor earlier in the frame for hooking.

Martin Rysavy had 2 shots on goal.

Jiricek had one assist and was a +1.

Czechia and Canada compete against each other tomorrow in the semifinals, with the winner fighting for gold and the loser for bronze.

The last time these two played each was August 13th, with a 5-1 Canada win and a Kent Johnson “Michigan” highlight reel.

Not hearing anything about Svozil’s status of the game (kneeing), he would be the guy to stick to Connor Bedard with David Jiricek. Svozil and Bedard play together in Regina. Anyone that is a teammate would know someone’s game better than others on the roster. Yes they are different positions on the same roster, but defensemen help win championships.

More to come…
