Laine for Harris

A - Clear $7.3M for this season and upwards of $8.7M for 25-26. Master class in cap savings for Waddell to fill the flood gates or sign other young NHL players to cheap long term deals.

B - Extra opportunities for the young wingers to move up and earn minutes. Marchenko, K Johnson, Chinakov, maybe Voronkov?

C - the return being Jordan Harris. $1.4M hit for this season only should maybe be a bit less of a hit.

D - having to strap a 2026 2nd round draft pick for a guy that publicly said he will not play for an organization.

F - the lack of an immediate replacement ready on the team to score now. Showing legitimate signs of remaining in the Eastern Conference basement. Sure there are unsigned veterans, but how many desire to play in Columbus when there’s an internal budget and no immediate future of winning?


Sillinger Extension

A - signing the final remaining RFA at a short term gamble. The Don needs to assess with his own eyes without old management around.

B - center depth and full NHL forward roster group solidified

C - middle six forward on this team pending injuries

D - could slide to bottom six if a more significant forward is added

F - if he has a sophomore slump this deal may look bad
