The deal is done. The Columbus Blue Jackets have settled on a trade for defenseman David Jiricek and their 2025 5th round draft pick to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for defenseman Dameon Hunt; a conditional 2025 first round draft selection of Minnesota with top-five protection in the 2025 NHL Draft; a 2026 third round draft pick that originally belonged to the Colorado Avalanche in the 2026 NHL Draft; a 2026 fourth round draft pick that originally belonged to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2026 NHL Draft; and a 2027 second round draft pick of Minnesota.

That’s a mouthful in a run on sentence. Columbus and Minnesota completed the seven part trade early Saturday evening after other teams including Philadelphia; Pittsburgh; Anaheim; Nashville; and Edmonton were all involved.

Jiricek will get his minutes in Minnesota; Hunt will hunt for his minutes in the defensive depth logjam that is Columbus. A’s on both sides. More details coming…
