The Ottawa Senators are not a winning team for the first time this regular season after a rare home loss. The New York Islanders three unanswered goals was enough for them to hold on 4-2.
Period II
Andres Lee opened the scoring with less than five minutes remaining for his fourth of the regular season with the assists going to Bo Horvat and Ryan Pulock.
The former Senators’ forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau extended the road team lead for his fourth of the season. Horvat and Lee both got their second points of the night with assists.
Period III
Oliver Whalstrom got the third and final Isles’ goal on Forsberg for his first of the year. Teammates Matt Martin and Kyle McLean had the helpers.
Nick Jensen broke the shutout and got his first goal in a Seantors’ Jersey. Thomas Chabot and Tim Stützle had the assists.
Drake Batherson recorded a powerplay goal for the winger’s sixth goal this season. Stützle got another multi-point game with the primary assist. Jake Sanderson had the secondary assist.
Horvat continued his productive night by scoring on the empty net. His goal was his third point of the night and fifth goal of the year. Scott Mayfield had the lone apple on the play.
Players to Watch
Brock Nelson had a minor penalty in 17:42TOI. The veteran also had 3 shots on net with a 57% in the faceoff dot. Only Pageau had a better success rate.
Noah Gregor was a -1 in 8:11TOI, the second lowest amount of time. Only Ostapchuk had less time. Gregor had a hit, takeaway, and minor penalty.
Goaltenders
Semyon Varlamov had 28 saves on 30 shots for a 0.933 save percentage.
Anton Forsberg had 21 saves on 24 shots against for a 0.875 save percentage.
