Happy Deadline Day Hockey World!

Update — 11:30am

Sean Kuraly is done for the season after injury suffered yesterday.

Onto the action:

The Columbus Blue Jackets conclude their season series on Trade Deadline day with the Seattle Kraken for their first game of the month, and first home game since the kids game. The game is at 7pm on Bally Sports Ohio and Roots Northwestern.

Since these teams have met last, the Jackets have made a bunch of moves to free the cap for next season.

The Jackets have moved defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov and goaltender Joonas Korpisalo to the Los Angeles Kings for goaltender Jonathan Quick, a 2023 conditional 1st round draft pick and a 2024 3rd round draft pick. The condition on the 1st is if LA misses the playoffs, the Jackets get two second round picks instead.

The Jackets then flipped Jonathan Quick at 50% salary retained for a 7th round draft pick in 2025 and goaltender Michael Hutchinson.

The Blue Jackets traded Gustav Nyquist at 50% salary retained to the Minnesota for a 2023 5th round draft from the Boston Bruins.

The Columbus Blue Jackets flipped Jakub Voracek and a 2023 6th round draft pick for goaltender Jon Gilles.

Seattle traded a fourth round draft pick for defenseman Jaycob Megna from the San Jose Sharks

The Kraken are coming into tonight off a back to back series, and just defeated the Detroit Red Wings by the final score of 5-4 in overtime.

The Jackets have not played since their victory over the Buffalo Sabres to close the month of February. Columbus finished the month 5-3-2 in the shortest month of the year.

As for the Columbus lineup, expect Michael Hutchinson to arrive before game time and backup Elvis. Kuraly is a game time decision after an undisclosed injury at practice yesterday morning.
