The Columbus Blue Jackets contributed for Czechia in their opening contest of the 2022 World Junior Championship tournament, squeezing a 5-4 victory over Slovakia.

The Slovakian captain, Jackets prospect Samuel Knazko, did not play.

For the three players on the Czechia roster that are current Columbus prospects:

- Martin Rysavy (CZE) got his first goal of the tournament to tie the game 2-2. The Jackets prospect was also a -1 with 2 shots on goal.

- David Jiricek (CZE) got the player of the game award and an assist in his country’s first win of the tournament, winning 5-4. The 6th pick from July’s draft had 6 shots on goal, a minor, and was a +2.

- Stanislav Svozil recorded 4 shots on goal against Slovakia.

We got a potential pairing one day in Columbus between Svozil and Jiricek. Calling it now. Can’t wait to see it in the future.

More coming from Day 2…
