I swear you guys just hate on Eller bc he didnt instantly become a star after the Halak trade.

He is a good player, but not as good as you think. He has shown flashes, but thats all they are. Flashes.

I never expected Eller to be a star, but come on man. He has not shown he can be a 2nd liner on a team thats serious about the Cup. Great if you're going for a lottery pick, or the elusive 8th seed, but to be a good team you need better than Eller up the middle on your top two lines.

I dont think hes a 2nd line center right now but like you said he has shown flashes of talent. Still young, could progress nicely into that role 2 or 3 years down the line. If not thats a solid 3rd line centre.

On to Bernier....
UPDATE: According to Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun, Matt Frattin would indeed be a likely piece of any deal that might move Jonathan Bernier from Los Angeles to Toronto. He also notes that the Kings would probably want a draft pick in the swap as well. Toronto apparently began asking about the 23-year old netminder right after L.A. hoisted the Cup, so the interest has been there for awhile. And, while he's certainly not a proven commodity just yet, he does bring plenty of upside to the position. In addition to posting solid numbers in limited ice time with the Kings, he also won the AHL's Bastien Memorial Award for best goaltender in 2009-10 -- the year after Cory Schneider took home the same honor.

Eller is 22...Plekanec was 23 when he played his first season in the NHL. I compare these two because they kind of play a similar game. Eller has been improving from year to year, I have no problem with him. I do hope he buffs up a little though, he gets out-muscled in his battles for the puck often. He could not really add some upper body strength last summer because of a shoulder surgery. I hope he does it this summer.

Funny thing is. If we were going for Nash and the Jackets were interested. We could just send Williams in a package to CBJ. They could def use him. He would have the right character for theyre locker room and younger players.

That trade is terrible no matter what any Habs fan says. Sure you can say Gagne is a throw in. But Williams alone is worth more than that package. Bourque is now a salary dump for Mont. It seems that they dont even want him.

It wouldnt be totally off for a Nash to LA trade. He could be the talent that sets Kopi over the top.

Maybe something like
Williams, Bernier, Hickey, Loktionov and Clifford.

I'll pass. Not because I don't think Nash isn't great (he is), I just can't stand his cap hit. It'll cripple LA, especially when it comes time for Brown to resign.

There will still be more than enough money for Brown.

But he isnt a checker, so he wouldnt be effective on the third line. While showing flashes, none of it has shown or proven he can be a solid #2 guy.

Nothing against the guy, but Plekanec is a true #2 center. Ellers doesnt have it in him.

lmfao most entertaining blog in a while, damn i dunno who came up with that robbery of a trade as a habs fan sure lets do it....useless and a young'n with an ok future for potential season ending injury x2 or potential 70+ pts x2....sure lets do it!

but seriously it must have been one of those habs fans who called 5-0 on Chara who started this rumour....a bit ridiculous and unlikely but hey thank you because it gave us this amazing blog!

When Plekanec was drafted, he was a potential shutdown, third line center...
