Briere can play wing as can Schenn. So this "overload" at center is nothing to base a trade off of. I do not want to trade the Schenn Bros, or Couturier. I would rather not have Weber at that price. Now if a trade does go down, I will understand why it was made, but I would rather it be V and Mez. - RooNosHockey
Why does it have to be Schenn bros OR Voracek and Mesz? Couldn't it be Brayden & Mesz or Jake & Luke as well? |

80 million dollars and getting fair value
not saying they will do that. but it's not as outlandish as people are suggesting. they could determine that biting the bullet for a short time is worth it to get fair value, even if they can't afford to pay him all of that money in the long run - FlyerMike18
Maybe for a team like the Flyers, Rangers, etc. But there is no way a smaller market team is going to spend that kind of money for 1 season, which will likely be shortened, and then trade him. Not to mention there'd only be about 4-5 teams tops who could afford him. No shot they can blow 25+ million to get a couple of better prospects. |

He'll probably get a NMC which will hurt Nashville's ability to get primo return. |

One incentive would be to prevent him from collecting a ton of cash up front and then holding out and demanding to be traded. - Jsaquella
well they wouldn't be able to trade him immediately anyway, so a holdout would be pointless. but i understand what you mean (see my edit). they could want to do that in order to ensure that he would be comfortable coming back. but they only do that, imo, if they can afford him long term
if they know they HAVE to do that in order to avoid a serious issue, that might push toward not being able to match |

So my question is by Wednesdays deadline is Weber in a Flyers uniform?
Yes or No? - stveshdy
He'll be a flyer, already is one imo. |

who said it would be one season? if you have to pay him 27 mil for one year, and only 1 mil in the second season, why not hold him for two?
and i don't know about that...shea weber after those first two year, locked in for 12 seasons at an under 8 cap hit, would be a pretty damn valuable asset |

acorrding the financial experts actuaries/accountants/brokers etc. on Hockeybuzz Nashville can match no problem in contrary to all the legitimate analysts and journalists who say they don't. One source having quoted Poile as saying they can't pay front loaded contracts
GM David Poile has gone on the record as saying there is no way the Predators can afford front-loaded contracts.

If Nash tries to bluff Philly with the "green light" an Philly calls them on it they would be in worse with fans. How could they say they have green light then get caught bluffing that would piss me off more then losing Weber. |

How would it look if the franchise got the Bros together only to ship one out before they even play 1 shift. No, I'm sure if 1 schenn goes, they both go... But I dont want either to go. |

They'd kind of have to if they want to keep him happy. You can't discount what a disgruntled player does to a locker room. |

I don't want them to go either. I love the idea of brothers on the same team. Obviously that has nothing to do with hockey but it's cool nonetheless. |

That contract is a NTC in itself for half the franchises... |

it's possible that is the case, but we don't know that is all i'm saying. i have no idea how shea weber will respond to the predators matching the offer sheet |

There can be nothing in an offer sheet besides money & term. The NTC/NMC can be added when the contract is finalized. - Jsaquella
But it is not something that is contracted as part of the offer sheet. There is no obligation on the part of Nashville, the offer sheet is "deemed" a contract for the matching team. |

well if they can't match I guess they will have to settle for what the Flyers are willing to give them, so they can A.(Flyers) Save some cap-space and B. (Predators)Save some face with their fanbase. |

I hear ya man, none of us know, just giving our best educated guesses. I just find it hard to believe they can afford to pay all that cash, up front, and then trade him in a year. Even If they hold onto him for 2 years, its even more cash since its so heavily front loaded in the first 4 years. A team like the Flyers or Rangers as I suggested before wouldn't mind spending the money to be in a position to get better prospects and picks in a year or two. I just don't know a team like Nashville can really afford it. |

Give them Shelley and Walker. Saves the Flyers Cap space and gets Nashville closer to the floor.
I'm going to be aggravated if the Flyers give up a package, It's my belief Nashville isn't willing to match this front loaded OS. |

I see the Schenn Brothers as something that Nashville would use to market the team more after losing cornerstones to their team. It's probably better than having one but you're right, it doesn't have to be both. I'd like it if it was neither but I would think Nashville would want both |
