I don't see how Nashville can match. From what I've read they had gate revenues of $26MM last year and lost $7MM. They have to pay Weber $27MM in the first year and $14MM/YR for 3 years after that. Even if they attempt this, what kind of talent will they be able to surround him with? They have a lot of RFA's and UFA's coming due next year. The Weber deal would blow their whole salary structure to pieces. They could have kept Suter for less than the deal Weber signed and didn't.
As for the Ranger trade, let them have Nash. NY had good chemistry last year. I think bringing Nash in is going to screw that up. What did he do for Columbus? |

the only reason i wouldn't trade both is that i know i'd have (had) a shot at him next year in FA. if he has 4 years or so on his deal right now, no doubt i trade Schenn and Couts + for Weber at that existing cap hit.

Question:
If they go the Gratton route and the Flyers get some of their 1st round picks back, those will be Nashville picks, right? Meaning, the Flyers will be selecting based on Nashville's standing at the end of the season? |

I think the Flyers have a pretty good shot at Bobby Ryan. Rangers didn't have to give up that much to get Nash. The price for Ryan just took a hit. I don't think he wants to stay with the Ducks. The Rangers are probably out of the Ryan picture. I even think if the Flyers decide to trade for Weber, the price has just taken a hit. We'll know pretty soon. Everything should be cleared up by the end of the week. |

see, i kinda thought so too...but my home boy MJL made a good point:
there is one less top line forward available now with NASH gone....and still as many teams looking for one.
but still, i think people look at what other trades and base what could be offered. some may say that Ryan has higher value tho |

I actually think it's a fair trade, given that Nash could block deals to anyone and that really limited the pool of bidders.
Dubinsky had a bad year last year, but he's only 26 and has a couple of twenty goal seasons on his resume. Anisimov is a good playmaker and skater. He showed some chemistry with Steppan and Gaborik last year, and is only 24.
Erixon is a takented prospect with some question marks-attitude & strength-but he's got a nice skill set. Plus the Jackets have 3 first rounders in a very deep 2013 draft class.
Nash is a very good player that will help the Rangers, no doubt, but the Jackets could get a nice benefit from their return. |

I don't think the flyers have the depth/pieces to pull of weber and Ryan deals. It will be one or the other IMO |

There's no doubt in my mind now, that if the Flyers really wanted Nash, because they didn't, they would have had him. |
