Reviewing the Preds roster, there is some really impressive young talent both at the forwards and d positions. I really think the Preds may want to think about locking some of these young RFA to longer term deals to help sustain stability in the future. Weber or no Weber, I still think they are a playoff team. - ravishingone
i think the bold statements of devastation across multiple fronts if they walk are waaaaay overblown. they have a good team, a good coach, and find ways to compete every year. they'll do it again, with or without weber. |

Dreger says verbatum, "I get the sense Nashville will not match." - LordStanley88
That would be fantastic. I'll send Nashville a sympathy card in the mail. |

yea, dreger said that the same deal was there at the TDL and NYR never budged. - isaiah520
And Dreger also agreed with my earlier opinion. That Columbus did not get enough in return.

I totally agree. Rinne is a great goalie, and their forward depth is already pretty impressive. |

I think it will be Voracek or Read, but not both. I wouldn't mind seeing Cousins getting a shot if one of these guys is moved for Weber. I don't see him gaining much more experience playing a 4th year in Junior for a team that wasn't very good. |

gotta get a Stepan or mcdonagh for Nash...skip the draft picks and 3rd line plyrs |

Well if I would have to make a read on the situation today. Which would be purely speculative. I would say that although they are capable of matching the OS. They are not prepared to do so. So it's just a bluffing game to see how good of a deal they can get. So we'll see how ruthless Holmgren wants to be. Or how calculated and patient he can be.
The Rangers were very patient. And took advantage of the situation, and made a great deal today. - MJL
And I really think that rags deal changes the situation for the flyers for the worse. |

Conditional (if NYR makes the SCF, it goes back to CBJ). I don't think CBJ got hosed in the deal, though. Fair for both sides - in light of Howson screwing himself over by painting himself into a corner and Nash only willing to go to certain teams. For trading from a position of weakness - and compared to his two trades involving Jeff Carter, this was an okay trade for Columbus. Which is to say this is a B+ after the curve but seems like an A because the two trades I mentioned were D's. |

It was a tough go. NAsh's list limited the bidders, and Howson did manage to get two good NHLers and a good prospect in Erixon. He's also stockpiled 3 1st rounders in what is supposed to be one of the deepest drafts since 2003's monster class.
Had Howson moved at the TDL, he probably could have gotten more. That is probably the biggest error...well, besides Columbus not firing him earlier than that |

The Jets have offered restricted free agent Evander Kane a six-year, $29 million deal, according to the Winnipeg Free Press. The winger and his camp are reportedly weighing the offer as contract discussions have heated up. The negotiations are said to be amicable and both sides should be able to reach a deal very soon. Kane, 20, had 30 goals and 57 points last season and is a player Winnipeg wants to build around.

Yeah, not bad. Just making friends and enemies all over the internets. Same as usual. I took a few days off at the end of June to go away for our anniversary.
My son is enjoying the summer more, though, what with being able to sleep in, not go anywhere, play outside, play with his action figures, Xbox, Star Wars online game, etc. So jealous...
How's your summer? |
