I would do staff, sekera and a first, if we got a prospect or a 3rd back, but that is about as much as I would throw at them for ryan

Give it up Garth, the Sabres wont be getting either player...Doan wants to go to a Cup contender and he doesn't even get a playoff team with the Sabres...the East continues to get stronger and Doan will be coming to one of Pittsburgh, New York or Philly. IMO Buffalo should probably start a rebuild now especially with the prospects they have drafted this season and the next couple drafts look really promising for top prospects. Buffalo won't be able to contend with the big dogs in East for awhile...do the smart thing and blow it up.

No offense, but there is no way in hell that Gerbe is the reason why any team would not trade for Ryan.

He has two more years, tops, in this league.

gerbe is a 4th line player or 3rd line ....... easily replaceable!

Then Gagner, Adam, and Buffalo 1st pick for Ryan...Anaheim needs forwards not defensemen.

You know what, we could afford Sekera and Leopold for Ryan. We have 10 capable D on the roster and we would be keeping our best 2.


Pairs could be

Myers/Regehr
Erhoff/Sulzer
3rd could be any Weber/Mcnabb/Brennen/Pardy

Agreed:

Adam, Hodgson and Gerbe for Ryan and Getzlaf would be a fair trade to me because I don't think Getzlaf is going to sign in Anahem next year.....he wants to be a NY Ranger too! Problem capwise Buffalo would have a hard time fitting this in.

More likely that Buffalo goes in a different and unexpected direction.

If the above happens, the Sabres might as well blow it up and trade all the vets for prospects & futures that will be ready to contribute when Grigs, Coho and Girgs are capably centering the top 3 lines in a few years.

Of course, Darcy has no vision and no plan so we'll continue to strive for 6th - 8th place and a couple home playoff dates and then watch as Regehr, Vanek, Pominville and Miller all leave as UFA's for nothing when their deals expire.
