There are also a lot of rumors swirling that the Preds have the cash and the intention to match Philly. We would have to hope that Weber just doesn't want to stay with the team if that's the case.
I would love to see Ryan in the blue and gold, and with the Nash trade being made for much less than Columbus had wanted, maybe getting Ryan wont be so painful. We can only hope. |

I hope doan does not sign with Buffalo because then thats all Garth would blog about. Doan ate at this restaurant, Doan actually waved to me as i sat in his bushes stalking him and etc from Garth. His oppsession with a player who will play 2 good years at max is crazy. I would much rather trade for a player who has about 7+ good years such as Ryan. I would love to see a package deal will sekera as a major piece (unlikely though). But also wouldn't mind a Ryan for vanek trade. However this will not happen because Darcy is still on the back nine and does not realize Nash has been traded and he will be late to the party once again. |

So a team that lost $7.5mil last season is going to throw away money like that? And I believe he gets $13mil signing bonus once this deal is done, then $13mil next July1, and the Preds would have to wait ONE calendar year to trade him, so in reality they would have to pay him $27mil to have him for one season if they wanna flip him next offseason... - BoBBeR56
I can't comment on whether they would have to pay the 2nd bonus, because I can't say I know the answer to that with 100% certainty.
But let's say none of this offer sheet business happened, and they resigned Weber themselves. You would have to think it would be in the 8 million range, and with not paying Ryan Suter this year, I think it is reasonable to think they will suck it up and pay the extra $5million so they don't cripple their franchise. |

Garth is like the Narcisistic Sabres blogger. Someone else gets big news and he always thinks its about his team. |

Garth you haven't been right yet, the Rangers and Flyers CAN take on Doan and Ryan cap or no cap. Sather and Homer will make the deals to get the job done, Darcy will not. Ryan will not be a Sabre because Darcy won't give up to get.
I see another Doan blog, then another Ryan blog, followed by yet another Stastny blog and a Kane blog, rounding it out with yet a final Doan blog. |

Shea Weber would be due a signing bonus of $13M on July 1 of next season. Is it possible that Weber could be traded on July 1 of next year and the team he is traded to has to pay his bonus, or would he have to be paid on July 1 by Nashville regardless of a trade happening on that day. |

I'm not saying the Anchor Bar has the best wings, but I'm saying the fifty-piece bucket for $40 feels like great value. |

First - I would like to cast my vote for removing Columbus from the NHL. That was a joke of the trade - we waited 6 mths for that. A prospect, high 1st round pick and a pair of third liners. Way to gamble and negotiate.
Now on to Ryan - the Sabres will NEVER land Bobby Ryan. We don't have the assets nor do we have the balls. Garth - no way the Ducks just give this guy away for Sekera and what other players we add to the mix. They will want Ennis or Myers as a cornerstone to this deal. I just don't see if happening.
If I were the Sabres I would go after RFA O'Reilly from the Avs. He is a center and would round our this team.
I would love Bobby Ryan but I think we wouldn't give up the asking price.
Either way - we need to get our S%$T straight - teams around us are raising the bar. Ott was a good start but time for some serious moves. |

Just wondering, doesn't it make sense that the Nash trade will help out any teams looking to acquire Bobby Ryan? I mean 2 2nd and 3rd line players along with a big maybe in erixon and a late first round pick isnt all that much when you consider what your getting. I realize Nash had Columbus by the balls on this one but I still feel like Darcy could point to the Nash trade as a reference for a fair trade value for bobby ryan which after this trade would drop considerably. |
