So are we just ignoring the fact that Murray already sat down with Ryan and attempted to smooth things over? Or am I an idiot to think that hockeybuzz and someone like Eklund would ever let Bobby Ryan rumors die even after they couldn't be anymore dead. - mochoson
Remember when Columbus tried to smooth things over with Rick Nash, These are BIG egos we are talking about here. |

Huh? You just included 3 guys will play in Rochester and 2 who are borderline NHL capable. Two more are on the wrong end of their careers and the remaining three are hit and miss. |

There was special circumstances, Nash had columbus by the balls - GJBoxer14
I'm not disagreeing with you, but it's pretty weak that a player can have that kind of control even though they knowingly agreed to a lucrative contract with that club. I think Nash should have to sit in Columbus and choke on that piece of paper he signed... |

All of them can play in the NHL though, There are worse defensemen starting on other teams in the NHL

I disagree here. We have strength on D in the prospect rank. That may be valuable for teams wo do not want to take on additional Salary

time to dump two of these bros with other prospects/ picks for a solid player. doesnt necessarily have to be of the "star" caliber...just someone that can come in an put up respectable #s
sure all of these guys are NHL defensemen...but a hard majority of them are only career 5/6 guys
regehr is past his prime and isnt a top 4 anymore (even homer said it...so dont chirp me)
sulzer- very solid last year loved his play but again, a 5/6
pardy-5/6
weber-5/6
brennan-6/7 at best
sekera-anywhere from 2-8 some nights haha
My point is this, you cant package together a whole bunch of $hit pieces and think that a ton of $hit equals gold. At the end of the day poop is still poop...no gm will want 2 of our bottom tier players plus a prospect plus a 1st rounder (presumed to be a very late 1st rounder given that the team wants to go deep into the playoffs)
all these nonsense trade proposals are starting to irritate me...were starting to sound like leafs fans with their whole kadri/schenn nonsense

Not to feed the stereo-type of "Every player to Toronto" but I have to think that the Irish Sweatbeast that runs the Leafs would make a serious(inflated) offer should Ryan actually be available. He gets such a hardon from his ex-players. |

Plus Howson had a month and a half before he really had to do anything. He flinched first and did not get the best return for his team.

crap i never clarified:...a realistic deal would be like sekera, mcnabb/pysyk, plus like an armia/adam type, plus a pick or two to get someone worthwhile...gotta give to get

I doubt you'd get Ryan for that. You need to include at least one "has the potential to be a star" player. The Ducks will need him when everyone else jumps ship. |

It really doesn't make sense to trade Ryan before Getzlaf and Perry are signed to extensions...if they trade him and they walk next year, the Ducks are ruined. - clarkysduster
I'd almost guarantee that Getzlaf and Perry will be traded
There's no way they're re-signing there |

I agree, but there is a reason they have so much backed up. Why sign the Pardys of the world when you know you have youngs guns ready to take their shot at the 5/6 spot, not saying they are gunna trade 4 of these guys for ryan, but they do add value when you package them with picks and someone else with real value, who that Base will be... No clue, but Darcy has got to be up to something, backing these defensemen up is a sign that there will be some kind of move, that or Darcy is paranoid about injuries after last season

At no point did they try to "smooth" things over. Nash asked for a trade. Got one.
Bobby Ryan basically said "If your gonna keep throwing my name out and gauging interest and creating all these rumors, then just do it already. I dont want to be traded, but I'm not gonna be the first guy brought up when everyone talks about how the team needs changes"
Big difference. |

No, given the fact that everytime I come in here Garth has come up with even newer, full-proof logic as to why it makes sense and why it's going to happen.
Believe me, after this blog, I'm literally expecting 10 more at a bare minimum before the September. |

Thats realistically what your looking at at a bare minimum for Bobby Ryan.
There are other teams who can offer way better packages, and that's IF he were available. |
