I admit, they are like asses but that's not an excuse for you to be one either. - LordStanley88
It's the best way to deal with those two and it's passing the day. |
|
|
|
Amen!!!!
I for one still question the wisdom of spending that kind of money for one player, especially considering how front-loaded and bonus-laden the deal is.
I understand losing Weber would not be good in many respects and deep down I want to see him remain a Pred. However, keeping him bears a substantial amount of risk. - blueline
It's hard for Flyers fans to understand, but, yes, if this were happening to Giroux I'd hate to lose him. However, if my club was financially restrained and can't spend up to the cap, then I could live with the decision of letting him go.
At this point it's a very tough judgement call for the Preds owners. I'd try and probe Homer for as much of a return as possible. Or at least explore that avenue. I think a trade suits both clubs. |

thanks for bringing that up. whats his percentage?
you guys have your panties in a bunch becuase you think a big market team is picking on you. i dont blame you, but your gm put you in this spot. not the flyers.
again, the preds may indeed match. not saying they won't.
I've been a hockey for fan for 32 of my 38 years. Been in finance for 15 years.
The preds may be on the verge of making a poor hockey and fiscal decision here.

--you must, then, know that weber is arguably the best all-around d-man in the nhl right now
--you must also know that an agent works for the player and is responsible for the player's "best intrests"
--you must know that the collective bargaining agreement expires in a couple of months
--and you must know the laws of supply and demand and that this was an incredibly thin free agent market...
add it up and it's cha-ching! for their client
it was in weber's "best intrests"--financially--to wait for the open market this season |

W. Brett Wilson's current percentage of ownership is private as are other financial matters with the ownership group. (Although he has said that he just upped that percentage.)
That privacy is why worthless muck-rakers such as the Fish Wrap, Forbes, etc exist - to make up stories and numbers that they put under blaring headlines in the hope to hawk a few of their worthless publications. They are dying. |

Income statements? You mean the phony ones Forbes concocts and spits out? Preds are a privately held corp - it's legal to limit dissemination of finances to the public. - blueline
who said it wasn't? i read them all day from private companies, however.
btw - forbes may be partial, but they do not produce incorrect financial documents.

But we have still been Cup Champions before. Don't be mad you guys cant get passed the second round now - Richieattack18
Hey, I could crow about the Redskins winning 3 Super Bowls while the Eagles have none, but then I realize it's sort of silly since the Skins haven't won in 20 years (which is sort of like yesterday compared to the last time the Flyers won a Cup). |

you have know idea what it's like to be a fan of a fiscally conscious, small market team...
nor do you have any idea what it's like to lose two of your top three players
a trade with philly, especially for the likes of mezaros, voracek and whomever else that was mentioned is mere crumbs and suits only one club... the flyers |

How can Wilson have 20 assists, 16 goals and 35 points? Was his play so atrocious the NHL docked him a point? |

let me help you out. its 5%.
btw - hiding behind a "private ownership" as a way to discount any and all financial information is a bit shortsighted. financials are released for any number of reasons. could be federal, state or municipal grants or loans. could be public money used to build or maintain facilities housing certain tenants. There are literally hundreds of reasons why this information is released.
You should also know that releasing incorrect information in a certain manner can be deemed illegal and a violoation of many federal compliance laws. |
