Because that role is taken by a legit 2nd line winger. Kadri needs to EARN his way into the top 6.
By playing on the 3rd line.
If they can get him in the top 6 role, cool? But they can't, because Macarthur is there. - jbold
with Frattin hurt to start the season, you could certainly see Kadri starting the season on the third line, but eventually they want to slot him into a top 6 spot, thats where he will excell, his vision is superb. |

THE INSTIGATOR RULE IS STUPID HEAD!! - Dozzer
Ya but it's the reality. You need players that can fight, not fighters that can't play.
Besides the best fights are ones with emotion and impromptu bouts, not staged centre ice "Ok you wanna go?" "Ya ok" "Nice fight see you on Thursday" "How's the wife and kids?" |

kadri is not a 3rd liner, he needs to play with good players that can feed off his vision. |

MacArthur, 43 points in 73 games this season.
And 62points last season.
But we have to put him on the 4th line because Kadri needs top 6 minutes?
That makes sense.... |

THE INSTIGATOR RULE IS STUPID HEAD!! - Dozzer
Agreed! The Instigator rule allowed goon tactics to stay in the game. Do you think that hit and run type players would be as prevelant, if they had to face the music for a dirty hit? Too many Ruuitu, Sekara and Ott types around that never receive the justice that they deserve. |

62 points, down to 43 points, i guess hes on the decline
you dont get it do you? IF kadri makes the team, and is ready, having him in a checking roll passing the puck to Mcclemment isnt ideal. you want him essentially feeding guys who can bury on command...thats what i think anyhow

Mike Rupp was on the bench when Crosby got dropped, didn't stop anything. Fighters can't hit back since they are slow and have 3 minutes of ice-time, so why should I fear a guy who will not see any playing time and who I could just say "(frank) you I won't fight." If the fighter jumps him then he gets the instigator and the guy is laughing. Aka Kaleta/Avery/Lappierre who are the masters of this. How did the Habs do with George Laraque the best fighter in the league? Nobody would fight him so how is he protecting his team? The 80's and 90's are over. - AdamFrench
Thats when you need to Scott Stevens guys in mid ice...thatll learn them. |

you really want kadri shutting down opposition top lines?
dumb. - Dozzer

There. I switched names for you.
Besides, like Colin said. Top 6 bottom 6 dont exist anymore.
Pretty sure Burke said a month ago they're looking at a top 8 bottom 4 lineup. |

You guys are both wrong.
Mac needs to be moved for assets if the plan is to put Kadri in. The team objective is not to build Kadri up, its to get W's. If Kadri is on the 3rd line then you risk W's. 2nd line or AHL.

no frattin? i guess we traded him for Bernier then?
so we cant move mac down a line, but we can move kadri in from the AHL to 2nd line winger and move frattin from 2nd/3rd line winger to the AHL.

with a line matching coach like carlyle the leafs will have very specific roles to play on each particular line
under wilson yes, under carlyle, no.. the third line will be a traditional checking line

Maybe you should go read back and what I said about Frattin.
so we cant move mac down a line, but we can move kadri in from the AHL to 2nd line winger and move frattin from 2nd/3rd line winger to the AHL.
riiiiiiight
Actually, you said MacArthur on the 4th line also, which is stupid.
And once again, go back and read about Frattin.
thanks. |

the entire arguement started with me saying "unless a trade is made".
basically if kadri is in the lineup, its top 6 or nothing, unless of course they had him on the third line until Frattin came in, then perhaps they could move him to the 2nd and trade Mac, if not, id rather mac be playing where they can mix him into the top 3 lines and have him on the 4th line.
PK's happen, PP's happen, the lines do fluctuate a bit. |
