Typical uneducated response. We aren't talking about pack pulled or laser cut gretzky's rookies cut from an uncut sheet. The graded near perfect ones out there of which can be counted on one hand or perhaps even one finger.
We are talking about ungraded average condition cards here. |

i have a 1967 calendar of the leafs, and i have a 1967 framed picture of all the leafs with pins, pictures, etc.
both only worth a few thousand total, but they will stay in the leaf cave! |

The insurance should have covered it...

He would have to have prove that he owned it (i.e picture). A lot of collectibles have to be itemized and submitted to insurance companies for you to get a pay out if you ever have a theft or fire.

Exactly...people who aren't collectors now assume all gretzky rookies are worth thousands of dollars because of that one article about the highest graded gretzky rookie selling at auction. That price was reached because it is likely the only one in existence that received a perfect grade. |
