Just curious but if i slam the lame ass Canucks blogger for being a useless troll in the Oilers thread, do his lil referees come in here and ban me to protect his thin skin???? Hopefully by game 2 someone will deliver a nice lil elbow to one of the redheaded stepsisters and we will see just how well the team does without the twins together.

Here's the thing: Eberle and Hall might actually be worth $7mil per season.

I wouldn't hire Semin to carry around Hall and Ebs golf clubs.

- Maxbone

Definatly not for 7 mil

Semin>hemsky
End of story. Semin won't be broke half way through the season, plus he has all the skill to be elite, best wrist shot in the game.
I predict
Semin 80gp-35g-37a playing with the staals
Hemsky 52gp-14g-29a

- NoobasaurusRex

Semin has yet to play 80 games in his career. Soooo you are saying this is the year he plays 98% of the games because he has never done so before, and that hemsky will only play 52 because he like semin is injury prone just a little more injury prone so will only play 63%? yeah, makes perfect sense kid

Semin has yet to play a full season in his 6 year NHL career so you can add lazy and injury prone to his resume as well.
- ruttager17

Aside from his partial initial season, he has averaged just about 70 games per season. Not what one would call (bitterly) injury prone.

Are we arguing the degree of which they are injury prone?

Ya I'm glad your not a GM. If your team need another goal scorer and you wouldnt take a low risk one year contract for a possible 40 goal scorer who has his career on the line.

Actually he has averaged 78g per year over his 6 year career. No one called him "bitterly" injury prone as you suggest, but when comparing the players, it would not be fair to say Hemsky is always hurt, and leave out the fact that Semin has been hurt as well.

I am by no means Semin's biggest fan, but clearly alot of people take everything the media says about him as fact. Here's the facts - he has the best wrist shot in the game. He can pass better then anyone currently on the canes. He has bar none the best toe drag in the game. He made defensive strides last year - even blocking shots in the playoffs. He has an uncanny ability to take the puck away, which is unfortunately not perfect which gets him into penalty trouble in the offensive zones due to high sticks and hooks which result from missing the mark.
Knowing this, the stats speak for themselves. He is worth 7mil for one year.

If Semin didn't care he'd take his 10m+ and go to the KHL. But no, he wants to play against the best and show he's worth 7mill here.

Good signing, best of luck - no dirty toe drags against your old team please.

Semin 7 Million one year > Hemsky 5 million for two years.

Even if money and contract werent an issue, Semin > Hemsky.

Is this a real debate? I havent scrolled all the pages, so im hoping this is sarcasm or an inside joke im better off being on the outside of.

Contracts are based on points for the most part, especially forwards. Semin has no heart but he has elite skill. On a one year deal for 7 million its not bad at all, it is overpriced but it has very little negatives for the Canes unless he is a cancer. Which can't really be said because his only team had captain Ovie... and lets just say he ain't a "no BS" leader like Staal.

Hemsky's contract is more on the terrible side along with Tuomo Ruutu, good attitudes but they don't stay healthy, Semin can be lazy but for the most part is healthy and he can rip it up. Good pickup for the Canes, disappointed in your view on this one Cloutier.... especially with the whole Hemsky thing.

Actually what I said is that a player who averages 70 games a season is not injury prone -- but I think you got that point and choose to be obtuse.

Averaging 78 games is not a reason to mention or bring up injuries. Again, is this a serious debate? Comparing Semin to Hemsky when it comes to injuries?

No, it's about 70 -- I think you missed his first partial season.

The "bitterly" was in reference to your earlier comments -- you seem very bitter about the Canucks. Did a Vancouver girl dump you?

yes sir i stand corrected i did. Now that would give him an average of 67gp over 7 years and Hemsky has averaged a mere 62gp over 9 years played. Thanks for the correction, the mere difference of 5gp per year between the two just proves my point even more. both players are injury prone. Numbers dont lie

His first season was a partial one. Don't think he started it in the NHL, so it skews the numbers -- 70 would be more accurate.

Numbers always lie -- in one way or another.
