Don't they use that in tennis also? |

I never really ragged on soccer itself. I just don't like how they say nill. I think it's annoying
Not a huge fan of soccer, but I watch the World Cup and the Olympics.
And for the record...tennis is so much fun. |

i personally feel like their "strength" in balance acts as a weakness at the same time since you're spending 4million on a 3rd line dman. sending Mezaros is the key to making the $ match in a deal like that so, if there are issues with Timmonen's health late in the year, they can make a trade for another dman at the deadline.
at that point, pending any unforseen injuries, they won't need top line help on offense - eshake
Mr. Gambini? That is a lucid, intelligent, well thought-out objection. Overruled!
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Personally, I would rather save Timonen by having a 3rd line that can take minutes away from 1st two. You'd rather save the dollars for the TDL. Both valid. I just think that they'll vastly overpay at the TDL to add a top-4 dman, even more so than if they needed to add a little offense. I wouldn't do that deal. |

taking names and personal feelings out of it....seriously tell me how:
bottom 6 forward plus 3rd pairing dman and (essentially) 2 first round picks doesn't = Bobby Ryan?
basically, that's about the same the Rangers paid for NASH! - eshake
Simply because Bobby Ryan isn't that good of a player to command that number of assets. Your assiging values to the players given up in the deal that are false values. Read scored 25 goals last year. Look around the NHL and see how many players each team had that scored that many goals. And your labeling Meszaros as a 3rd pair defenseman. Meszaros is a top 4 defenseman in this League. Capable of playing 20 minutes plus a game, and providing offense. Laughton was a first round pick.
If you think Ryan is worth all that, your vastly overrating him as a player. |

Game. Set. Match!
Actually, I was thinking about his earlier comment on the Rangers Nash trade. I'm trying to decide whether I'd trade Read for either Dubinsky or Anisimov straight up. Wouldn't do Mesz for either one. But I don't think I'd even trade Read for one or the other.
Edit: Anisimov |

right now the starting 6 are Timonen, Schenn, Grossmann, Coburn, Meszaros and one of Gervais/Gus/Boudon/Lilja. Take Meszaros out and you have Timonen, Schenn, Grossmann, Coburn, Gervais and Gus/Bourdon/Lilja. And that is assuming everyone stays healthy. Had they gotten Weber they would have had the depth to move a dman but I don't think that is a luxury now unless its one of Gus/Bourdon/Lilja. |

Call me crazy, but Read, MAB, Laughton and a 1st is an over payment for Ryan. |
|
|

It's not even worth discussing. hockeyinsiderrr tried to take credit for breaking the Nash trade to the Rags days before when he had Del Zotto going the other way. Due to the fact that he had the other players in his "report" and Erixson was swapped in for MDZ, I guess he thought he was close enough.
Reagrdless, I don't see Homer moving from Read, Gus/MAB, and 1st. Anything more is overpayment, especially for a guy that is unhappy and wants out. |

Also, consider what we got for JVR. Ryan is a little more established than JVR, but I think that is a better comparable than the Nash trade. |
