Also, consider what we got for JVR. Ryan is a little more established than JVR, but I think that is a better comparable than the Nash trade. - TheGreat28
Ugh. Even after a few weeks, I feel we got fleeced in that deal. |

I never really ragged on soccer itself. I just don't like how they say nill. I think it's annoying
Not a huge fan of soccer, but I watch the World Cup and the Olympics.
And for the record...tennis is so much fun. - Giroux_Is_God
They say nil in England because they don't say zero a lot. It's like them going A to zed, not A to Z, or calling television hosts television presenters.
Soccer as a whole doesn't say nil, but in the U.S. the announcers are really stupid. So they do what the Brits do, even though they don't wear jumpers when it's cold. |

You know, I can't believe one person didn't comment on Giroux saying that Crosby broke his wrist.
Was that already discussed and I missed it? |

“Those are from (Sidney) Crosby,” he says half smiling, but with some tension in his voice. “Every time we'd line up against each other for a face-off during our (2012 playoff) series, instead of going for the puck when it was dropped, he'd hack me across the wrists. I ended up playing the series against (New) Jersey with one of them fractured and had to go for surgery on both of them after we were out of the playoffs.” |

Simply because Bobby Ryan isn't that good of a player to command that number of assets. Your assiging values to the players given up in the deal that are false values. Read scored 25 goals last year. Look around the NHL and see how many players each team had that scored that many goals. And your labeling Meszaros as a 3rd pair defenseman. Meszaros is a top 4 defenseman in this League. Capable of playing 20 minutes plus a game, and providing offense. Laughton was a first round pick.
If you think Ryan is worth all that, your vastly overrating him as a player. - MJL
how am i assigning "false values". i'm stating what value they have to the Philadelphia flyers.
on the Flyers, Matt Read is 3rd line forward. on the Flyers, Andres Mezaros is a 3rd pairing dman. the first round picks are what they are to the Flyers.
other teams see that too...it alters their trade value for sure

The value to trading partner is what matters, not where they play on the current team. For example, Columbus sees Dubinsky much differently than the Rangers.
Also, you are assuming line combinations. The Flyers could easily have Read on 1st line and Mesz with Timonen as 1st pair D at some point this year. |

I think everyone is in agreement, crazy. - steelydan
hate to be the 12th angry man...but now you're being ridiculous.
say what you want about the Mezaros inclusion...but not doing it for a 7th NHL defenseman is a joke
name the last player the flyers had on their team that scored more than 30 goals in 4 straight seasons. that is a LEGIT asset that the flyers don't have and they want to get.
and if they want to trade their lower tier players ON THEIR TEAM to get it....how is it crazy?

what i'm saying is, in negotiation that value to the Flyers comes into play. it has too.
and also, if Matt Read is playing the first line...then the flyers are in trouble. |
