No Shelley in that list?
But by the way, I do agree with your earlier comment on Wellwood. That is basically the difference between him and Read - Read almost wins accuracy contests. - TheGreat28
I recently saw Read in 3 different accuracy contests. He almost won them all. |

Well, that one's more obvious than the height. Kim Kardashian doesn't pack as much back as Jagr |

Yes. He is incredible. I want to trade Giroux for him, because he's just magical
He's a good player. I will root for him and be happy that he's on the team. But if they're demanding Schenn or Couturier...well (frank) that. - Jsaquella
Honestly, I don't think I'd even put Read in the deal. The problem is we have 8 top-6 forwards and need a 9th. Is Ryan an upgrade over Read? In some ways yes, but in other ways no. Read is great on PK for example, and his salary really helps the cap.
I think people are thinking he's expendable more because of a fear that he was a one-hit wonder. That's a valid point. But considering his productive relative to his on ice situations, I think he still has upside. |

I want that, too...I also think with Wellwood-Talbot/Fedotenko/Holmstrom-Rinaldo that they have that. - Jsaquella
i'm always an apologist for the agitator guys... but whenever i watch footage from last season i'm noticing rinaldo a LOT. he's hard to contain when he's in whirling dervish mode. |

what's the difference between jagr and briere defensively? - OrangeBlack27
opposing players can't just run over jagr and zip off w/with the puck while he watches... i'm a known idiot but i definitely think briere is worse defensively. i also think that giroux lost a little of his 2way game last season playing with jagr on his line. |

I think that was more because of the change in his role with Carter and Richards gone. Before, he was third line center and asked to be more defensively responsible. |

Read does have upside. He's a good, speedy, versatile guy. My willingness to include him in a deal is based more on his age vs that of Schenn. |

ok.. i think he meant wellwood had certain players he played with.
I wouldnt say Read got bumped anywhere, as he seemed to play on just about every line every night.. - jak521
I know what it meant. I was just giving out icetimes to put in perspectve how much Read was used. |

just my opinion but i wouldn't mind having a more defensively responsible first line this year. scoring isn't really the problem. |

I'm really not as big on the agitator guys vs. skill guys. I realize you need them to some degree, but I think we've tended to rely too much on that trait in the past. The balance is better now IMO.
But that having been said, I think Rinaldo was more a victim of biased officiating than anything. You know, when Carbomb used to whine about the refs it really annoyed the heck out of me. But Zach truly was wronged a lot of times and pretty much took it like a man. I think he definitely deserves a role on the team. |

Agreed in general. But I also think G's defensive play started to lapse later in the year when he started to try too hard to make things happen. I think this started fter injuries and slumps to 2nd line, and he tried to put too much on his shoulders.
So I'm thinking the key is balance in both scoring and defense on all three lines and minimizing some of the pressure on Giroux. |

the silver lining for Philly will be a level of in-season cap flexibility that they have never had before, along with all their trading assets intact.

Awesome!. Lets get rid of all of it by overpaying for Ryan! |

OK, I'll admit that you guys may have convinced me. I'm still leaning a bit towards Jake and Briere though.
So, let's say the choices for 1st line winger are Read, Schenn & Vorachek. What are the pros and cons of each to play with G? |
