I think's that's why Sather signed depth guys before he made the trade. He went and got Halpern to center the 4th and asham to replace prust. i think prust is better than asham but asham costs 1.5 million les than prust so the move in terms of the cap is a good one. Pyatt will replace Dubinsky, Dubi probably has more upside because he's much younger but the rangers couldn't keep his 4.25 million on the books. - tomburton99
They replaced guys on the bottom six with lesser guys, but it will probably still work out.
I don't know why they didn't re up Mitchell. I know he didn't score much but he was a pain in the ass to play against.
I think Isiah is right when he said the biggest concern is your top 2 defenders having to log such big minutes every night. Maybe it won't be a problem, but I think it can wear them out playing consistently over 25 minutes a game.

wanted too much money. and got that money from the avalanche. With Mcd and Girardi, i think once staal finally gets back into the swing of things he'll get 20 minutes a night, so will Del Zotto. The key for our d is if sauer can return sometime this season.

When it comes to Giroux, I have little worry. The Flyers will get him locked up, and then deal with the cap issues that may arise later. Sure they lost Carle after feeling confident they could lock him in, but he ain;t Claude Giroux. - Jsaquella
I'd have to imagine the 1st moment they can contact his agent about a long term contract they will do it & hopefully get it done fast.
Spatso is 100% correct. The earliest the Preds can trade Weber is one year to the day they matched the Flyers offer sheet. - Jsaquella
Yes, but they are liable for the 2nd bonus payout next July 1st. So considering that they have to pay 27 million by next July 1st, and then 1 million over the course of the 2013/14 season, it makes no sense to trade him until after that season before the 7/1/14 payment is due. Having Weber for 13/14 for 1 million at that point is likely worth much more to Nashville than a trade.

Can't believe I got banned for the first time. The reason was because I told a blogger that his opinion of Nashville offersheeting flyers players was idiotic. don't see what was wrong with that. Oh well
