exactly zero...all the stadiums would have been within the 5 boroughs... go to youtube and search for 2012 nyc olympic bid...youll see their plan. - LetsGoIsles
If than thats the case then fine. but i still think long island would have beyond crowded. every hotel out here would have been booked.
At least two developers Syosset developer Ed Blumenfeld, of the Blumenfeld Development Group, and Plainview developer Donald Monti, chief executive of Renaissance Downtowns, submitted their qualifications to redevelop the 77-acre site, firm spokesmen said separately.
Absolutely, but at what cost to him? There is no question that an arena can be built right there. The TOH hasn't prohibited that. The problem is, can Wang make money if an arena, and only an arena, is built there? I have yet to see one study or person come forth to say or show that CW can make money off the Isles just by getting them into a new arena.
I am no Wang apologist or sympathizer, but I understand his point on the arena issue. The guy has a right to make money off his investment. The more "developers" that get involved in the Hub redevelopment, the more people need to make money off the deal. How can CW make money off the team if another developer has to come in, demo the NVMC, build a new arena, then get paid? I don't blame CW for not signing off on another developer re-developing that site unless CW gets some assurances that CW is going to make money off the team as a result of the re-development. - Jethro09
Not for nothing but Wangs gonna get that anywhere he brings this team as long as he's the owner. He goes to Brooklyn, Quebec, Seattle or stays in Nassau, all would be new arenas he didn't fit the bill for any of the building. If He wanted more of a cut he needed to own the building himself or help chip in on that bill. I like when owners of teams own the arena they play in, funny how those teams are the ones always turning profits.
See for me I do blame Wang if he's not talking to every developer right now that's thinking of putting an arena in Nassau. If he really wants to keep the team there he should be saying "I'm taking all calls from any developer". The only thing that's really stopped him from turning a real profit was the way the existing lease was structured. Come July 31, 2015 any new one can be made to better fit any Developer or Team Owner that might come in, if done right. SMG will no longer and had better not be apart of any of it. Also fans tend to forget that in this day & age these developers make a nice amount of $$ off of the naming rights for these Arena's
I also blame Wang because of the many other arena's that have been built in the past decade and are in the talks of being built, the negotiations are public and sometimes they have to come up with many different plans. Wang wants everything quiet & done behind closed doors and is afraid to have anything spoken to the media
